Tis the Season...to (be Rushed) begin to Savor

We have heard it said several times in our lifetime, "Oh, the Christmas season goes too fast!" It is true. The season speeds by it seems. My oldest son, Caleb, and I started a tradition a few years ago. The boys get November 15th off of school here because it is opening day of rifle season for deer hunting. So, Caleb and I take that day to decorate for Christmas. Some people think that is too early, but it gives us the time to relax and enjoy the decor.

I have said before that we need to step aside and take time to savor the Savior. Savor His peace. Savor His presence. Savor His love. The list could go on. We all know that we rush through life no matter if it is holiday time or not. In our oh so busy world, it is imperative that we set apart this time to savor. Just as I enjoy my cups of tea; steeping the leaves I watch the hot water take color, pouring the tea in my cup, sipping the tea and to truly enjoy tea you must savor the flavor. We need to "steep" His Word and the essence of Christ will begin to show through. Pouring His Spirit into our heart, soul, and mind Jesus can truly immerse us in His likeness. Savoring the Savior begins as we truly dwell in communion with Him.

Set aside daily time to truly Savor the Savior. Yes, this Christmas season will go by quickly. When it does, it will be time to take down the decorations. Not all will be lost though, as you have begun your daily habit NOW of resting in and savoring our Friend, Jesus Christ.

The Eyes have it

Have you taken the time to truly look into someone's eyes? The "heart" of the soul lies there. When I look into the eyes of my youngest son, I see such a twinkle...it can only be the Light of Jesus. That sparkle gives me renewed hope and joy. My heart smiles.

Looking...REALLY looking...into the "heart" of the soul in someones eyes will show you so much. We will see despair, anguish, weariness, joy, peace, and so much more. When we take the time to listen, it causes us to take the time to focus on the eyes. So often, the true "heart" of the soul is over-looked.

Compassion will give us the drive to truly see the "heart" of the soul. "Therefore as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility gentleness, and patience." (Col. 3:12 NIV) When we strive to live that verse, we WILL be taking the time to notice...REALLY notice...the "heart" of the soul in the eyes of others; therefore we will be demonstrating the eyes of Christ.

Webisode

I found something entertaining on the web for ladies who like mini-mysteries. Below is an exerpt from christiansunite.com:

by Staff November 9, 2007

DALLAS, (christiansunite.com) -- Fox and Lifetime actress Naima Imani Lett is all too familiar with the schism between Hollywood and Christianity. Recognizing the need to bridge the gap, she has embarked on a mission to bring light to a place that many Christians frown upon by reaching out to actors and actresses with a unique style of relationship-based ministry that promises to change hearts in Hollywood.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Lett is known for her recurring role of Jackie Ormond in Lifetime's original series "Inspector Mom." Lett's Jackie is a young "soccer-mom-with-a-secret" opposite Danica McKellar of "The Wonder Years" fame. The latest episode, "Rake Your Thieves," which reveals Jackie's struggles, can be seen on the Lifetime Movie Network's website, http://inspectormom.lmn.tv/. Lett will also begin filming her latest Lifetime project, "Queen Size", directed by award-winning television director Peter Levin on November 3rd. Naima plays Lucy Phillips, a passionate reporter who breaks the story about the discrimination being experienced by an overweight high school senior who is running for homecoming queen.

I only highlighted parts of this article on the web. This morning I watched the webisode, "Raking Your Thieves" while I sipped my tea. I found the episode fun and entertaining. Check it out for yourselves. I like to sit at the computer and read the news or interesting articles, but why not enjoy a "Mom mystery". Check it out at : http://inspectormom.lmn.tv/

Titus 2:3-5

"Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands so that no one will malign the word of God."

WOW! What goals to strive to live up to; being reverant (showing respect, godly)in the way we live. We are not to slander (talk about someone in ways that make them look bad to other people) or lushes(well addicted to much wine). Then we are to help the younger women love their husbands and children. We are to teach them to be pure (in thought, word, and actions), to be busy at home (keeping the home in order as far as clean and home life structure), to be kind, and to be help mates to their husbands.

WOW! Yes I said it again. So just how do we go about living those three verses...making them as natural as the air we breathe? To make it all very simple: communicate with Jesus daily; reading the Bible and prayer. A simple way to communicate with Jesus is simply a daily journal. When we are so in tune with Jesus we can only WANT to be godly. Being godly women will keep our tongues from lashing against other people in our lives. When we are so filled up with Jesus and His Spirit...HE is ALL we will need...no other outside substance. As growing and compassionate Sisters in our Savior we will be able to help younger sisters (ladies) to learn through us by means of modelling and at times guiding with our words.

It is my prayer that this site will encourage you, my Sister because of our Saviour. Feel free to leave comments and please do not hesitate to inform me if you think I made a mistake or was misinformed on something.
