Tis the Season...to (be Rushed) begin to Savor

We have heard it said several times in our lifetime, "Oh, the Christmas season goes too fast!" It is true. The season speeds by it seems. My oldest son, Caleb, and I started a tradition a few years ago. The boys get November 15th off of school here because it is opening day of rifle season for deer hunting. So, Caleb and I take that day to decorate for Christmas. Some people think that is too early, but it gives us the time to relax and enjoy the decor.

I have said before that we need to step aside and take time to savor the Savior. Savor His peace. Savor His presence. Savor His love. The list could go on. We all know that we rush through life no matter if it is holiday time or not. In our oh so busy world, it is imperative that we set apart this time to savor. Just as I enjoy my cups of tea; steeping the leaves I watch the hot water take color, pouring the tea in my cup, sipping the tea and to truly enjoy tea you must savor the flavor. We need to "steep" His Word and the essence of Christ will begin to show through. Pouring His Spirit into our heart, soul, and mind Jesus can truly immerse us in His likeness. Savoring the Savior begins as we truly dwell in communion with Him.

Set aside daily time to truly Savor the Savior. Yes, this Christmas season will go by quickly. When it does, it will be time to take down the decorations. Not all will be lost though, as you have begun your daily habit NOW of resting in and savoring our Friend, Jesus Christ.

I really enjoyed your e-mail. It is so true that we rush everything about christmas and forget what the meaning should really be about. Jesus, the one that holds the true meaning of it all. I taught Travis as a boy what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. I thank God for teaching me what it means. To give to the poor and make thier day a brighter one. To see a person smile is such a blessing!!!!
