I was talking with a friend the other day about wanting to write. The crazy thing is I have this passion for writing...and I know it is a God-given passion because of how it burns like a fire within me to write. So, then I say...well, what will I write about or where would I write? Should I just keep a paper journal? It seems easier to log it on the computer. Excuses? You betcha!
God has given EACH of us gifts and talents. Some He has given many; others a few. I don't know why he distributes as He does...He is the One in "the know". What are you doing with what He has given you? Do you know what your gifts and talents are? Do you know how to discover them if not?
Pray. Pray and ask God to show you what your talents and gifts are. Try new things. If it seems to be natural...it is probably a talent or gift from God. If not, keep trying new things.
If you already know your gifts and talents...Wonderful! USE them! Talk to God about how and where to use them then if you need to...get in touch with the right people to help put them to use.
I have different gifts and talents. Some I am using as easily as if I simply breathe. I started this blog as a means of using my writing abilities, but I believe I need to go a step further. Yes, I need to keep writing this blog...and do so at least once a week. But I also need to challenge myself to make the time to write. I need to write what is on my heart.
I won't make up excuses anymore. I will make the time and I will find the means...probably this computer because it is SO much easier for me to type than to hand write. In this "gifting" season, explore your gifts. Put them to use. Unwrap that wonderful God-given talent and begin using it. There are no more excuses. God's gifts are given with the soul purpose that they are specially "fit" for each individual. Show Him how much you enjoy the gifts/talents He has given you!

Diadem
I was encouraged today. I am re-connecting with friends in facebook and am now re-acquainted with a friend from Titusville, PA. My friend, Tambra Werner-Sabatini has written a book for ladies. I haven't read her book; simply her blog. The bible verses that inspired her to write are beautiful when thoroughly grasped.
Isaiah 62:3 "You will also be a CROWN of BEAUTY in the hand of the LORD, and a ROYAL DIADEM in the hand of your God." A diadem is an older word for a type of crown. We ladies will be a crown of beauty and a DIADEM in our Father's hand. How are we to go about being such a lady? When I consider the ways, I think of Proverbs 31. That lady was a lady of courage, strength, and beauty. Let's reflect on her characteristics.
This lady who is the diadem in the hand of our Father is noble, trustworthy, ambitious, cares for her family and those around her, she knows how to juggle the check book and make the most of the family income, she is wise, she puts her all into what she does, she is hostess to the poor and needy in helping them out as she can, she is prepared, she likes to look her best, she helps her husband look good in the eyes of others, she is strong, dignified, and she laughs at the days to come which means she does not let worries get to her, she makes the most of her time, she is praised by both her children and her husband, and she fears the Lord. We can live up to these standards that she has set before us. Pray for her characteristics to be yours. Earnestly work on them. I encourage you to take the time and read Proverbs 31 beginning with verse 10 or simply take what I have listed here. Write down the characteristics and begin to pray and discern ways of truly owning them yourself. Then work at it with all your heart.
Isaiah 60:5 "Then you will see and be RADIANT, and your heart will thrill and rejoice (VITALITY); because the ABUNDANCE of the sea will be turned to you, the wealth of the nations will come to you. "
I am speaking here of your heart, soul, and mind. I also believe that our inner beauty should shine outward by way of our health, but writing about that is for another time.
My prayer is that as you read this, you will begin to own it. You will become that virtuous woman...God's DIADEM!
